The first owner of the Dobuje Wine Estate, Jožef Bučinel (1808–1889), was born in 1808. He had 4 children with his wife Marija. The wine estate was subsequently taken over by his first-born, Anton Bučinel (1837–1912), who had 11 children with Terezija Marinič. After that, the farm was passed on to his namesake and second-born, Anton Bučinel Jr. (1867–1917), and, then, to Anton Bučinel Jr.’s first-born, Franc Bučinel (1898–1968). After WWII, all Franc’s children emigrated to the Canada and Italy, except for Roman Bučinel (1940–2014) who was extremely attached to both his parents and the wine estate. Roman had 3 children with his wife Jelka. Last but not least, the Dobuje Wine Estate was taken over by his youngest son, Robi Bučinel (1970), at the age of 20, who re-focused the farmstead towards wine-growing and -making. Hand in hand with his family, he has continued 200 years of tradition of wine-growing and -making.

»Wine is my passion. It combines tradition, a love for nature and respect for the environment and people all in one.«

By interfering therewith only to a minimum extent, I have been able to ensure that tasting of our wines provides you with a sense of harmony that ties all of their elements into a harmonious whole, the latter also being a reflection of precision, hard and responsible work, dedication and intimate knowledge of my own vineyards.
